We all remember Felix Hernandez’s 2010 year when he went 13-12 with a 2.27 ERA and won the AL CY Young Award. That was a major step in Major League Baseball, as it showed it didn’t just take wins to win the award. But here’s my question. Why isn’t Clay Buchholz even in the TALKS for AL Cy Young?
Here are Clay Buchholz’s 2013 statistics:
12-1 1.74 ERA .199 BAA 1.02 WHIP
Now, lets take a look at Felix Hernandez’s 2010 Cy Young Stats:
13-12 2.27 ERA .212 BAA 1.06 WHIP
Here is a list of Ken Rosenthal’s Predictions for the 2013 AL Cy Young
1. Max Scherzer, Tigers
2. Anibal Sanchez, Tigers
3. Yu Darvish, Rangers
4. Chris Sale, White Sox
5. Hisashi Iwakuma, Mariners
Clay Buchholz is not even being CONSIDERED.
In conclusion, I am not saying that Clay Buchholz should win or even finish second. I am only trying to say that Clay Buchholz should get a bit more consideration after the great year he had.
